Native bees and honeybees are intregral to the Farm
We have planted a diversity of plants for both native bees and honey bees. Each bee variety has its niche and together it makes this farm work as a balanced whole. Each type of bee, whether it's a solitary bee or a bumble bee or honeybee, is specialized for feeding on particular types of flowers and different behaviors. Some flowers are built for bees with long tongues. Bumble bees can still pollinate when temperatures are too frigid for honeybees. The bees themselves sustain other insects that help to keep a variety of predators around which in turn keep pest outbreaks under control.
